Art Therapy
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is an experiential form of therapy in which doing and experiencing are central.
This means that art therapy is considered a non-verbal therapy. However, this does not mean that no conversation takes place during an art therapy session. While you are working and during the discussion of what you have created and done, there is certainly room to talk.
During the discussion of your work, it is important to stay close to your personal experience. This way, we can address your emotions, behaviors, and thoughts, making them open for discussion, further exploration, and influence.
In art therapy, you are provided with various artistic materials to use in completing specific assignments, techniques, or exercises. Through this process, we gain insight into your unique and personal journey, where physical, sensory, and emotional experiences can support and stimulate your development.
In the studio, the focus is on working with different clay-based techniques. Of course, it is also possible to request other artistic materials if needed.
In the studio, art therapy is applied from a body-oriented perspective, where clay serves as a source of inner calm.

Art therapy is experienced as a direct path to deeper emotions. It confronts individuals with certain patterns in their thinking, feeling, and behavior within a safe environment.
-
The art therapy sessions are designed for children aged 6 and up and teenagers up to 18 years old, with a specialization in providing support and guidance for autism, ADHD, ADD, DCD, and trauma processing.
These therapeutic sessions can address the following needs:
Do you need more safety and trust within yourself?
Do you need to better understand your own desires?
Do you need to improve your self-regulation skills to manage tension, frustration, and stress?
Do you need greater body awareness?
Do you need focus and strength to build more self-confidence?
Do you need to release negative experiences by creatively clearing your mind?
Do you need help recognizing emotions in yourself and finding ways to cope with feelings of fear, anger, sadness, trauma, and grief?

I am Lies, and as an art therapist, I aim to bring people closer to themselves so they can feel at home in their bodies and in the world around them.
I have been working in special education for about 10 years, where I both teach and support students in student guidance. In this role, I feel a strong need in these young people to experience peace.
My decision to work as an art therapist mainly stems from my own personal process, where being creative has been therapeutic. When setting up the studio, I also spent a lot of time working with clay, using it to clear my mind on both good and less good days.
What strengthens me as a creative therapist is my experience in special education, but also my extensive internship at a psychiatric institution, where I supported children and teenagers in various ways to feel safe again in their bodies and in a world that demands so much from them. I continuously update my knowledge, learning new insights within this therapeutic approach, as well as expanding my understanding of guidance and support for children and adolescents with specific needs and challenges.
Once there is a request for help, we can get started. Together, we will explore your world and your story. I am happy to help you unravel your story and walk together down unforced paths, where therapy can be liberating but also enjoyable.
